Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the above mentioned position;

MAIN FUNCTION OF THE JOB:

To effectively implement and maintain the organization’s occupational health as well as environmental management initiatives and programs through conformance to standards as defined under the company’s management systems requirements, national and other laws and regulations to which ESR subscribes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum BSc Degree / B Tech in Occupational Health and/or Environmental Management

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Previous experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of certified SHERQ management systems
  • Knowledge of all MS Office suite

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent planning, organizing and communication skills are required
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act No. 9 of 2001
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001
  • Certified internal auditor to ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all occupational health and environmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
  • Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to occupational health and environmental management, including statutory training and reporting
  • Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operational areas to meet occupational health and environmental tolerance limits
  • Ensure that all occupational health and environmental occurrences are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented
  • Ensure that occupational health and environmental inspections are carried out
  • Ensure ESR is prepared and ready to respond to all emergency situations pertaining to occupational health and environmental occurrences.
