Job Description

Our client the Eswatini Tourism Authority which is in the business of developing the tourism sector and marketing Eswatini as a tourism destination is looking for an exceptional individual to be the:

Purpose of the position: To enhance the competitive position of Eswatini’s tourism offering and achieve increased number, length of stay and spread of tourism with increase in tourism receipts. This is an EXCO position reporting to the CEO.

Key areas of responsibility and performance:

Marketing plan and collateral

• Develop and monitor the implementation of the marketing strategy. Strategize and sell the marketing plan to the industry.

• Manage budget for marketing plan.

• Participation in strategy planning

• Develop marketing collateral.

• Plan for tourism exhibition.

• Represent ETA in International, Regional and Local Tourism Forums.

Tourism based functions Develop and monitor the implementation of digital media strategy.

• Initiate corporate advertising programs with local tourism authority.

• Develop relationships with tourism based publications, tour operators and travel agents.

• Overseeing various media to promote the kingdom in various source markets.
Stakeholder relations

• Ensure that a mutual relationship is maintained with Tourism establishments.

• Ensure timely information dissemination to communities.

• Foster and promote close liaison with the Government.
Management of subordinates

• Set and agree key performance targets with subordinates.

• Manage departmental continuous learning and development program.

• Conduct performance appraisal of subordinates.

Professional qualifications: Master’s degree in Marketing, a Post graduate degree in tourism, conservation and sustainable development would be an added advantage.

Competency requirements: Includes: Creative thinking; Entrepreneur skills; Excellent motivator with very strong management & communication skills; Good negotiation and interpersonal skills; Proven ability to coordinate activities; Ability to manage stakeholder relations & make decisions under pressure;

Experience: -At least eight years’ experience in the tourism industry, two of which must have been at middle management.
