FNB Pension Fund

FNB Swaziland Pension Fund is looking for an entity (individual / company) that will act as Principal Officer

 The Principal Officer

is the executive officer of the fund and acts as an extension of the Board of Trustees/ Management Board. The principal officer must assist and guide the board in the running of the fund within the legislative framework.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform the functions of a Principal Officer for a retirement fund and guide the fund through future changes and reform in the retirement fund landscape
  • Statutory duties allocated to the Principal Officer by the Board as set out in the Retirement Fund’s Act,2005
  • Keep up to date with the legal requirements, as prescribed in the Retirement Funds Regulations, 2008
  • To guide the board members in the formulation of administration policies
  • To assist in the creation of a fund structure that will ensure efficient administration and top-quality service
  • Ensure that administration services are clearly documented
  • Supervise and control the keeping of financial, membership and other appropriate records for the successful operation of the Fund
  • Monitor payment of transfer and all exit benefits within the time frame required by the rules of the fund
  • Monitoring the unclaimed benefits and where applicable provide assistance with the tracing of members
  • Ensure that timeous, relevant and meaningful communication takes place with all members of the Fund
  • Ensure that Board of Trustees meetings are held often and that decisions made and action items are monitored and reported upon
  • Coordinating of the agendas for all board and committee meetings
  • Checking of minutes of all Board and Committee meetings to ensure that the salient points have been correctly resolved
  • Execute instructions of the Board of Trustees and report to the fund’s Administrator

Minimum Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of the legislation governing retirement funds, specifically the statutory duties of a Principal Officer
  • Have and maintain the relevant fit and proper requirements required for a Principal Officer
  • Applicants must preferably have at least 5 years’ experience in the retirement industry
  • A graduate qualification in either accounting/economics/law will be an added advantage
