Job Description

The Kingdom's major provider of long-term mortgage lending, Swaziland Building Society (SBS) islooking for an appropriately qualified Manager Internal Audit to join its team.

Reporting to the Audit and Risk Committee, and Managing Director, the incumbent will manage the internal audit department in accordance with the internal audit charter and annual internal audit plan.

Key Performance Areas

— Develop a systematic and disciplined approach to continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of SBS frameworks for governance, risk and internal control. — Ensure the independent functional operation of the internal audit department in accordance with the annual internal audit plan. — Lead the development, implementation and review of the internal audit charter, with approval from the Audit and Risk Committee. — Develop and implement a risk-based internal audit plan and related audit programs including a combined assurance framework in accordance with the International Professional Practice Framework (IPPF). — Review the level of adherence to Anti-Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Act by various business units. — Establish a sound reporting framework and provide quarterly reports to the Audit and Risk Committee. — Undertake special investigations and promote quality improvement and innovation in operations. Provide assurance advisory services to department managers and other stakeholders. — Promote the development and up skilling of the internal audit department by developing and implementing personal development plans for self and members of the team.

Required qualifications and experience

— CA or CIA with a relevant audit or accounting undergraduate bachelor's degree. — A minimum of five (5) years audit experience with two (2) years working in a managerial position.

Required competencies

— Working knowledge of risk based internal audit principles. — Working knowledge and understanding of the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) as defined by the Institute of Internal Auditors. — Exposure to working with EXCO and the audit committees. -- Knowledge of the IFRS, Swaziland Financial Institutions Act and the relevant banking regulations. — Technology based working experience in conducting audits and reporting. — Analytical and strategic thinking ability, as well as good attention to detail.
