Promulgated under the Financial Services Regulatory Authority Act 2010, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) is responsible for the regulation of non-bank financial institutions in Swaziland. The FSRA seeks to recruit an individual who prides himself or herself on delivering quality work, has the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality, and a strong desire to learn. The position reports to the General Manager - Legal Services.
Key areas of responsibility
• Assist with the enforcement of legislation and good business practice of financial services providers • Provide sound legal advice and opinion on appropriate interventions and corrective measures to be taken on non-complying financial services providers • Participate and advise during offsite monitoring and onsite inspections of financial services providers including AML/CFT supervision • Promote compliance by regulated entities with the Insurance Act, Retirement Funds Act, AML/CFT legal framework, and any other laws • Contribute to the amendment of existing legislation and make proposals for new legislation, as well as assist with drafting legislation and industry guidelines • Contribute to consumer protection and education initiatives and processes which includes participating in the preparation of presentations and workshops for industry training • Participate in the establishment and development of the overall regulatory framework for the supervision of financial services industry including the development of legislative framework such as the Act, regulations, circulars, notices, guidelines, standards, policies, procedures and strategies
Experience and skill requirements
• LLB degree • A minimum of 2 years working experience in a similar position preferably working in a financial services environment • Working knowledge of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority Act 2010, financial services laws under the FSRAAct and the Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2011 • Have the ability to understand and interpret legislation • Have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing on legal matters • Have strong inter-personal and analytical skills • Be computer literate
