Operations Manager - United General Insurance Reporting Line : Reports to Chief Executive Officer Job Summary To provide the overall strategic direction and day-to-day management of the operations of the Group’s General Insurance Business. Job Specifications FINANCE Manage the financial performance of the company, including budgeting, forecasting and reporting. Ensure effective collections for all benefit categories Grow the product mix to ensure maximum sales Ensure that cash flows meet budget by achieving a set monthly buffer CUSTOMER Client Management Oversee design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of insurance product and service offering to new and existing clients Ensure the retention of robust client base of existing and new clients through customer satisfaction and service. Maintain beneficial relations with external and internal clients and stakeholders. OPERATIONS Business Unit Strategy Develop, review, update and implement business strategic plans, including sales, financial performance and new product development. Manage the financial performance of the branches, including budgeting, forecasting and reporting. Preparation and submission of Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reports and Plans. Claims Administration Ensure effective and efficient management of Claims Operations. Benefits Administration Ensure effective and efficient Management of Benefits Operations. Ensure that the necessary controls are in place. Internal Processes and Systems Administration Develop and implementation of internal processes, standards and controls, systems and procedures to meet operational needs, and regular evaluation thereof. Effective management and functionality of the IT System capabilities to meet operational needs. Risk Management Implement effective and efficient risk management strategies to achieve company objectives. Legislative Compliance Ensure compliance to the legislative framework governing the Financial Service Sector and/or Short-term Insurance Industry regulations.. Keep abreast with legislative and industry and provide advice on how changes will impact on the company.. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT In consultation with HR, develop staffing, retention and succession plans. Maintain a conducive work environment aimed at achieving optimal productivity and achieving excellence. Ensure that appropriate performance measurement standards are in place that will support staff performance management processes. Competencies  and Skills Customer Oriented Strategic Planning and Management • Knowledge of financial institutions and their key risk exposures Strong data, analytical, communication and report writing skills Conflict management, negotiation and grievance resolution Self-motivated and results-driven Have the ability to work effectively and efficiently in a pressurised environment Project Management Skills are essential Qualifications and Experience Bachelors Degree in Insurance & Risk Management or Commerce Postgraduate Degree in Business Management or a Masters in Business Administration is an added advantage Minimum of 8 - 10 years’ experience in the Financial Services/General Insurance Industry is a prerequisite Experience in a Senior Management Role Remuneration:  A competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications.
