Ace Hotel is a collection of individuals — multiple and inclusive, held together by an affinity for the soulful. We are not here to reinvent the hotel, but to readdress its conventions to keep them fresh, energized, human. We accept the hotel as a potential for real, fluid community. We believe that hospitality is compassion, that it is not servility but genuine concern for others' well-being and the ability to live with empathy.

The Los Angeles-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is a global nonprofit organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to more than 817514 people in 39 countries. We are currently the largest provider of HIV/AIDS medical care in the U.S.
AHF funds its mission to rid the world of AIDS through a network of pharmacies, thrift stores, healthcare contracts and other strategic partnerships. Generating new, innovative ways of treatment, prevention and advocacy has been the hallmark of our success. We are currently leading a mass testing initiative to identify and treat the 25 million people who are unaware they are infected.
By advocating big goals–such as having 1 billion people tested each year–AHF hopes to eliminate older, more time-consuming methods. Since 1987, AHF has cared for thousands of people living with HIV and AIDS worldwide. As we create and implement new programs in communities across the U.S. and abroad, we expand delivery of healthcare and influence over policy with the aim of saving more lives.

By 2005, Bantwana’s founder, Gill Garb, had spent more than a decade working in sub-Saharan Africa with communities struggling to cope with the devastating effects of HIV. Despite an initial outpouring of donor funding for the millions of HIV-affected orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) across Africa, little of this support was reaching the communities and families who shouldered the greatest burden and costs.
Inspired by passionate, committed local groups and individuals on the frontlines of the HIV epidemic, and working closely with colleagues in Africa who shared her vision, Gill conceived the Bantwana Initiative (“Our Children” in Zulu) as a way to bolster existing grassroots efforts through management and technical training, with a focus on holistic, comprehensive care.
The Bantwana Initiative: Who We Are
Launched in 2006, the Bantwana Initiative helps local communities in sub-Saharan Africa support orphaned and vulnerable children and their caregivers. More than 25 million children have been orphaned and made vulnerable in sub-Saharan Africa by HIV, AIDS, and poverty. Our model of holistic services for the entire family helps bring about lasting change in the lives of these children and the extended families, neighbors, and communities struggling to care for themThe Bantwana Initiative builds the abilities, skills, and networks of communities to help highly vulnerable children in high HIV-prevalence countries access the full range of comprehensive support they need to grow into healthy, productive adults.
The Bantwana Initiative (‘ children ‘ in Zulu) is dedicated to helping children orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV and AIDS—and their caregivers—access the full range of support and comprehensive care they need to grow into healthy adults.
Bantwana is an initiative of World Education, Inc. , a nonprofit organization founded more than 60 years ago, in 1951, dedicated to improving the lives of the poor through education, and economic and social development programs.
